Role Overview

Senior Consultant role in Neurosurgery at Hamad Medical Corporation, combining direct specialist patient care with clinical leadership, team supervision, service management, education and academic responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior doctor in the specialty below the Department Chair and/or Section Head, with oversight of consultants, junior doctors and other team members.
• Take responsibility for patients admitted under the consultant's name and for clinical decisions made by doctors under supervision.
• Provide high-quality specialist care including diagnosis, treatment, management and admission of patients within granted clinical privileges.
• Represent the clinical service and team effectively and use interpersonal skills to achieve service objectives.
• Work with the Department Chair and/or Section Head on service development, funding, budgets and staffing matters.
• Teach, supervise and train junior doctors.
• Contribute to academic and research priorities of the department.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Western qualification from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia or an equivalent system.
• At least 5 years of post-qualification clinical experience in Neurosurgery, including experience in cerebrovascular and skull-base surgery.
• Valid medical licence/registration in the home country and/or eligibility for licensing in Qatar.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to high standards of patient care, patient safety and clinical excellence.
