Role Overview

Senior consultant role providing comprehensive evidence-based pediatric orthopaedic surgery care within SEHA.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise evidence-based specialist care; examine patients, take detailed histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medicines and therapies, and develop comprehensive treatment plans for inpatient and outpatient cases. Lead ward rounds, review investigation results and adjust treatment, coordinate multidisciplinary care and referrals, supervise and train junior medical staff, participate in rotational on-call coverage, maintain timely clinical documentation, follow SEHA and Department of Health policies including infection-control and patient-safety requirements, and contribute to audit, peer review, risk management, quality improvement, research and continuing medical education.

Requirements and Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent from a recognized medical school plus structured specialty training and a recognized board/fellowship or equivalent specialty qualification. The role requires eligibility for or a valid Department of Health Abu Dhabi licence, primary-source verification, good-standing evidence and any required licensing examination. Post-specialty experience depends on the qualification tier and vacancy, commonly within the 3–7 year range; some consultant listings state additional Tier 1/Tier 2 experience rules. Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving and commitment to CME/CPD are required.
