Role Overview

American Hospital Dubai is hiring a Nurse Patient Care Coordinator for the Gastroenterology Clinic to coordinate outpatient treatment, provide direct nursing care, assess support needs, educate patients and ensure continuity across the care pathway.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including medications, vital-sign monitoring and assistance with treatments.
• Complete functional, environmental, psychosocial and health assessments to support care and discharge planning.
• Coordinate care plans, appointments and treatment schedules with healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients/families about diagnoses, treatment options, side effects and symptom management and provide emotional support/counselling.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with physicians, nurses, patients, families and relevant parties.
• Advocate for patient needs, participate in patient-related meetings and help patients access appropriate resources.
• Participate in clinical research, quality improvement, continuing education and departmental goal setting.
• Monitor symptoms such as pain, nausea and fatigue, orient patients/relatives to the clinic and document infection-control and pain-management information in the EMR.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing meeting the employer's recognized pathway.
• Valid professional licence/registration and at least BLS or ACLS certification.
• Postgraduate qualification in Nurse Management or an advanced clinical specialty preferred.
• At least five years of recent post-graduate experience in the related specialty.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate care and strong physical/psychological assessment, coordination, planning and prioritisation skills.
