Role Overview

The EP Lab/Cath Intervention Staff Nurse provides general and specialized nursing care to patients undergoing electrophysiology and catheter-intervention procedures and supports individualized plans of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Complete timely admission and ongoing nursing assessments and create or update individualized plans of care.
• Provide direct evidence-based nursing care, evaluate outcomes and incorporate family-centered care principles.
• Monitor and document the patient’s condition and the effectiveness of care and interventions.
• Assess patient and family education needs, provide appropriate teaching materials and document understanding.
• Administer prescribed medications under approved policies and protocols, including barcode-scanning processes where applicable.
• Carry out prescribed treatments in line with approved policies, protocols and procedures.
• Use understanding of one’s own and other professions’ roles to address patient needs and collaborate across the multidisciplinary team.
• Apply evidence-based protocols, identify needed practice changes, evaluate outcomes and participate in quality-improvement or research activities.
• Delegate appropriate parts of the nursing care plan, protect patient confidentiality and support professional interdisciplinary communication.
• Respect patient rights, apply the Patients First philosophy and incorporate CCAD’s professional-practice and patient-safety principles.
• Report errors and near misses and complete required charge-capture education and documentation in Epic where applicable.
• Lead and collaborate with the caregiver team, communicate clinical information clearly, engage patients and families in handover and daily-care planning, and support safe and equitable care.
• Maintain lifelong learning, support development of fellow caregivers and Emirati nationals, and participate in safety education and system improvement.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification, based on a minimum three-year accredited nursing curriculum.
• Valid and current national nursing license.
• BLS from the American Heart Association or an equivalent organization, either current or obtained within three months of employment.
• ACLS and/or PALS relevant to the specialty from AHA or an equivalent organization, current or obtained within six months where required.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Electronic medical-record experience is strongly preferred.
• Arabic speaking and writing ability is preferred.
• At least two years of post-graduate nursing experience in an EP Lab/Cath setting.
