Job Description
A senior clinical consultant role with overall responsibility for psychiatric and addiction-treatment pathways, physician supervision and multidisciplinary care decisions. Diagnose, treat, manage and admit patients independently within the consultant’s scope. Lead assessment and treatment of substance-use disorders and co-existing psychiatric conditions.

- Lead assessment and treatment of substance-use disorders and co-existing psychiatric conditions.
- Support student and junior-doctor education, clinical leadership and research.
- Guide multidisciplinary teams and adapt evidence-based care to complex patient needs.
- Support audit, safety, incident review, performance reporting and medication management.
- Provide clinical supervision and responses to emerging substances of misuse.
- Strengthen professional education about addiction and mental health across Naufar.
- Contribute to clinical research and improvement of clinical processes and care pathways.
- Maintain professional development and use learning to improve patient care.
- Organize work, address complaints sensitively, gather feedback and de-escalate difficult situations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Postgraduate training and/or experience focused on treatment of substance-use disorders.
- At least one recognized specialist credential: Arab Board of Health Specializations; American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS); Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPS-C); UK GMC/CCST Specialist Register; German Facharzt specialist certification; Swedish Board qualification; Australian/New Zealand college fellowship; Other countries’ specialist registration may be considered following equivalence review
- Valid home-country primary professional licence, with any revalidation requirements, and eligibility for a psychiatry licence in Qatar.
- Western qualifications plus subspecialty fellowship: at least one year as consultant; Western qualifications without such fellowship: at least two years as associate consultant.
- Non-Western qualifications with fellowship: currently a consultant with ten years’ post-certification clinical experience, or an associate consultant with at least two years in that role.
- Current clinical practice in the same medical specialty.
- Experience or knowledge relating to commissioning, accreditation or clinical practice-guideline development is mentioned by Naufar.
