Job Description

The physician assesses sporting injuries and health problems, participates in multidisciplinary clinical decisions and helps maintain safe pathways for treatment, rehabilitation and return to competition.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage sports-related illness and injuries in athletes.
• Contribute to athlete screening, preventive practice and decisions about sport participation.
• Collaborate with rehabilitation, physiotherapy, nutrition and sports-science teams.
• Contribute to clinical education and patient-service improvement where appropriate.
• Interpret imaging and laboratory findings and advise athletes on rehabilitation, medication safety and anti-doping education.
• Coordinate exercise prescription and decisions on return to competitive activity with the rehabilitation team.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Twelve to fifteen years of clinical sports-medicine experience.
• Recognised postgraduate training or qualification in sports medicine.
• Appropriate specialist recognition and professional registration/licensing.
